We're still alive. :-)

I thought it might be good to let you know that we're still alive, but that there's been a change in the past couple of months: I've stepped down as maintainer and command has been assumed by Laurent Desnogues. Unfortunately for him, he stepped in during the big video rewrite for MAME 0.107, and it's going to take some time and effort to get xmame and xmess working again.

In the meantime, if you'd like to play with 0.108, I recommend that you try SDLmame and SDLmess, which are available from Arbee's WIP Emporium. Laurent is basing his work off of RB and OG's baby, so you'll have an idea of what's in store. RPMs for Fedora Core 5 and 6 are also available, courtesy of XulChris.

16 February 2006

xmame/xmess 0.104

This isn't a very exciting release in terms of xmame/xmess-specific changes, but I'm sure the usual improvements from MAME and MESS will be welcome.

Updated list of older releases

The page of older releases should now be as up-to-date as possible, barring any egregious errors on my part. Many thanks to Mame Fan for putting us much closer to having a complete list of historic releases.

New website look and xmame/xmess 0.100.

I felt the website could do with a bit of an overhaul, so here it is. Since I'm not too HTML-savvy, I shamefully stole the look of mamedev.com (with permission from Aaron Giles) and edited this page with the Nvu authoring system. The next step may be to set up some sort of wiki for the documentation. If you have any experience in this area, please contact me or the mailing list. In the meantime, I'll try to put up some concise documentation.

Now what you came here for: xmame/xmess 0.100 is released to the world. Head on to the download page to grab a patch or the full sources. For a list of changes, check out the change log.
